Międzygórze

A small village with charming wooden architecture in the Tyrolean style, nestled in the Eastern Sudetes at the foot of Mount Śnieżnik. Among Międzygórze’s most notable buildings are the partially wooden, partially brick holiday guesthouse Gigant and a beautifully preserved wooden church from the 18th century.

Solna Jama

A small karst cave on the eastern slope of Czerniec. One of the most valuable natural sites in the Bystrzyckie Mountains. In cold and summer months, bats hibernate here.

Szczerba Castle

One of only three such fortifications in the Kłodzko region (alongside Homole and Karpień). This castle once guarded the border crossing on the old Kłodzko–Prague trade route, near present-day Gniewoszów. Today, only its ruins remain. The castle is surrounded by numerous legends—one of the most famous speaks of a secret underground passage connecting the ruins to the nearby Solna Jama cave, and of treasures hidden by the castle’s last owners. Legend says treasures lie hidden and it is accessible only to someone who prays three “Hail Marys” in Międzylesie Church and commits no sin on the return journey. No one has succeeded yet.

A medieval town founded at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, once known as a Royal City. To this day, remnants of its historic fortifications remain, including the city walls with the Water Gate and the Kłodzko Tower, as well as the Knight’s Tower, which was later converted into a bell tower.Bystrzyca is also home to the Museum of Matches (Muzeum Filumenistyczne)—the only museum in Poland dedicated to matchbox collections. With its atmospheric, cinematic setting, the town has often been used as a filming location. Scenes were shot here for Agnieszka Holland’s Spoor (based on the novel by Olga Tokarczuk), Kazimierz Kutz’s Nobody’s Calling, and The Partisan by James Marquand.

The highest peak of the Table Mountains. From the viewing terrace, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Czech part of the range, the Broumovské Stěny. The trail to the summit includes over 600 steps and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
